Oscar Acord [1009] was born
24 August
1885 in Friley, Johnson County, Arkansas, and died 31 July
1911 in Johnson County, Arkansas. He was the twin brother of Arthur Acord. He
married Bertie Gilbert, daughter of Jim Gilbert, on 9 December 1905 in Friley,
Johnson, Arkansas. She was born 1888 in Friley, Johnson County, Arkansas, and
died after 1985 in Friley, Johnson County, Arkansas. Oscar was a farmer and
logger. While he was logging, his team ran away and dragged him over a stump,
injuring his back and leaving him a crippled for the remainder of his life. He
died of typhoid fever. After Oscar's death Bertie married Ed C. Barnes and moved
to his home in War Eagle. Ed died about 1920. In 1920 Bertie lived in Sebastian
County, Arkansas with daughter Ruth, stepson Oscar William Barnes, and daughters
Sarah and Oscar Barnes. Oscar and Bertie are both buried in Evans Cemetery,
Franklin County, Arkansas.

marriage by Rev. A. Hammons. The happy couple went to War Eagle where the groom

Harris, about 1905. He was born 16 February 1884 and died 21 February 1958, at
home in Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas. Hiram was a farmer. They are buried in Union Grove
Cemetery, Johnson County, Arkansas.
