2. Elizabeth Ann Gray [3783] was born 16 April 1877 in Johnson County, Arkansas, and died 6 October 1909 in Wheeler County, Texas. She married John Lawrence Shirley in 1894 in Indian Territory, Texas. He was born 11 February 1869, and died 1936 in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas. Elizabeth is buried in Bomar Point Cemetery, Carter County, Oklahoma. In 1918 John lived in Plymouth, Collinsworth County, Texas.

  1. James William Shirley, born 15 May 1895, Indian Territory, Oklahoma; died 10 April 1966, San Diego, San Diego County, California. Served between 27 May 1918 and 4 May 1919 and a Private in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War I. Buried in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego County, California. Never married.
  2. Samuel Nicholas 'Sam' Shirley, born 27 August 1896, Indian Territory, Oklahoma; died 27 June 1969, Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, New Mexico. Samuel was a horse trainer who never married and is buried in Hales Center Cemetery, Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, New Mexico.
  3. + Lee Arvil Shirley, born 4 November 1897, Healton, Carter County, Oklahoma; died 22 October 1956, Pleasanton, Alameda County, California; married Mandy Irene Lester, daughter of Oscar Tilden Lester and Nora California Howard, on 3 October 1933, Childress, Childress County, Texas; born 12 September 1907, Memphis, Hall County, Texas; died 13 January 1996, Canoga Park, Los Angeles County, California. Lee was a farmer and horse groomer.
  4. + Jesse Lawrence Shirley, born 16 November 1898, Healdton, Carter County, Texas; died 13 March 1976, Amarillo, Potter County, Texas; married Ozie Jackson, 25 Dec 1925, Deaf Smith County, Texas; born 14 December 1904, Mineola, Wood County, Texas; died 9 December 1986, Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas. Jesse is buried in West Park Cemetery, Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas. Jesse registered for the World War I draft on 12 September 1918 in Plymouth, Collingsworth County, Texas describing himself as medium build and height with blue eyes and black hair.

  7. + Clara Denie Shirley, born 18 June 1903, Creek Nation, Indian Territory, Oklahoma; died November 1974, Indiana or Lubbock County, Texas; married Arthur Franklin Landers, 16 August 1921, Hale Center, Hale County, Texas; born 13 February 1900, Eastland County, Texas; died 19 March 1994, Hale County, Texas. Arthur was a World War I veteran, farmer, city judge and building inspector in Hale Center, Hale County, Texas. Arthur's mother Alice lived with them in 1930.

3. Martha Hester Gray [3784] was born 10 April 1878 in Texas, and died 20 July 1963 in Johnson County, Arkansas. She married George Newton McKnight on 16 April 1894 in Healdton, Carter County, Oklahoma. He was born 9 January 1871 in Tennessee, and died 24 October 1912 in Oklahoma. In 1910 they lived on Martha's mother's farm in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma. After George's death Martha moved with her son Homer to Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Martha is buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Springdale, Washington County, Arkansas.

She married Benjamin Christian Rickets on 11 December 1905 in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma. He was born 18 February 1871 in Piolet Point, Denton County, Texas, and died 30 January 1937 in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma.

He married Mallie Booker Millner about 11 October 1911 in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma. She was born 26 February 1890 in Texas and died 28 April 1972. Arvil registered for the World War I draft in Carter County, Oklahoma on 5 June 1918. They lived in Graham, Carter County, Oklahoma at the time. He was described as having blue eyes and dark brown hair. Arvil was a letter carrier for the post office. Arvil and Millie are buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma.

In 1930 Robert was a boarder in the home of John D. Duncan. Robert retired from the Pacific Pipeline Construction Company. After retirement they bough a 26 foot travel trailer and traveled until 1969.
  2. + Alyne Lahoma Gray, born 2 January 1915, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma, died 4 April 1994, Lemoore, Kings County, California; married Garnet Norton. Alyne was an accountant.
  3. Arvil Booker Gray, born 23 September 1925, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma, died 18 November 1985. He was a letter carrier for the post office. Buried Hillcrest Cemetery, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma.

10. Clara Lavada Gray [3791] was born 19 June 1893 in Healdton, Indian Territory, Oklahoma, and died 12 February 1967 in Texas. She married William Henry Flippin, son of John I. and Louise D. Flippin, on 14 February 1912 in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma. He was born 22 September 1892 in Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas. William was a farmer. He registered for the World War I draft on 5 June 1917 in Carter County, Oklahoma. He described himself as tall and slender with light gray eyes and brown hair. In 1920 he was a wagon driver in the oil fields of Oklahoma. Clara and William divorced in 1944.

  1. Willie Mae Flippin, born 27 March 1913, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma; married James William Lawrence; born 15 November 1896, Lawrence County, Alabama. James worked in real estate. They had no children.

  3. + Mary Florence Flippin, born 2 November 1916, Randlett County, Oklahoma; married 1) John Blackman Freiley, 23 January 1932; born 23 November 1913; worked as a cab driver and for General Dynamics.
