Children of Major Gilliam and Mary Grimmett

1. LORENZO DOW GILLIAM [17651] Died about 1849 in Johnson County, Arkansas. He married CELIA ANN DYER on 29 February 1840 in McMinn County, Tennessee. By 1842 they moved to Alabama. About 1844 they moved again to Johnson County, Arkansas  In the 1850 census daughter Ruth is listed with her mother and again wit her grandfather, Major M. Gilliam. Daughters Mariah and Mary are listed with their grandfather. Virginia and Charles are listed with their mother. Celia died before 1860. Their daughters were raised in the home of Dow's father.

3. MARY MAY GILLIAM, b. 20 Dec 1844, Johnson County, Arkansas; d. 9 Dec 1929; m. (1) MARION DUNLAP, d. between 1863-1864; m. (2) JOHN TURNER HORNER, about 1865, Webster County, Missouri.

4. VIRGINIA GILLIAM, b. about 1848, Johnson County, Arkansas.

5. CHARLES A. GILLIAM, b. about 1849, Johnson County, Arkansas.

Research Notes. Celia is listed in the 1850 census with just three children; Ruth, Virginia and Charles. Ruth appears to be also listed again along with her siblings Mariah, and Mary with their grandfather; Major Gilliam. There was a Cely Gillian listed with James A. Stewart in the 1860 Franklin County census. She indicated that she was 39 and born in Tennessee. None of the children of Lorenzo Dow Gilliam is listed in the household.

2. ROBERT GILLIAM [6885] was born about 1825 in Tennessee. He married ELLEN [last name unkown]. She was born about 1840 in Arkansas.

Children of ROBERT and ELLEN GILLIAM and ELLEN ? are:

1. WILLIAM GILLIAM, b. about 1857, Arkansas.

2. GEORGE WASHINGTON GILLIAM, b. 13 Aug 1858, Arkansas; d. 10 Feb 1946.

3. DAVID GILLIAM, b. about 1859, Arkansas.

5. MARGARET GILLIAM [6876] was born about 1835 in Alabama. She married JOEL/JOSEPH CHILDERS. He was born about 1830 in Tennessee. Joel was a farmer. In 1880 Margarette's mother lived with them in Sherman Township, Johnson County, Arkansas.
