Children of John Watson and Mahalia Long

1. Levi Edmond Watson [25178] was born about 1792 in Rutherford County, North Carolina, and died 20 January or 8 February 1862 in Sharp County, Arkansas. He married Nancy Jane Owens, daughter of Jesse and Sarah Owens, about 1800 or 1812 in Haywood County, North Carolina. She was born about 1795 in North Carolina, and died Aft. 1870. About 1820 they moved from North Carolina to St. Clair (now Etowah) County, Alabama. There he received an inheritance of $210.61 in 1844 as an heir of Jessie Owens. On 3 August 1845 he deeded land to the Methodist Episcopal Church and was named a trustee. About 1852 the family moved to Mississippi then about 1855 moved once again to Maxwell, Lawrence (now Sharp) County, Arkansas. There he deeded land to the Methodist Church for a chapel. On 13 October he purchased 180-35/100 acres of land. His will, dated 20 January 1862 is said to be in the Powhatten Courthouse Museum.

  2. Elizabeth Watson, born 1816. She married William S. Beason 06 May 1835 in St. Clair County, Alabama.
  3. John Mathew Watson, born between 1816 - 1820 in North Carolina; died 1876. He married Mary Ann Brothers 31 January 1837 in St. Clair County, Alabama; born 1817 in North Carolina.
  4. Jason G. Watson, born 1819 in Georgia. He married Sarah Owens; born about 1827 in Alabama.
  5. Peter Lee Watson, born 31 October 1823 in Alabama; died 18 July 1896 in Calhoun County, Arkansas.
  6. James Madison Watson, born about 1824 in South Carolina; died 28 September 1876 in Calhoun County, Arkansas.
  7. Nancy Ann Watson, born about 1828 in Alabama.
  8. Martha Angetine Watson, born about 1829. She married Russell Jordan 04 January 1847 in St. Clair County, Alabama.
  9. Mary Ann Watson, born about 1829; died 21 March 1892 in Maxville, Sharp County, Arkansas. She married Benjamin S. Shirley 17 November 1844 in St. Clair County, Alabama; born 10 March 1823 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. Mary is in Maxville, Sharp County, Arkansas

2. Eli Watson [25188] was born about 1795 in North Carolina, and died 1874 in Whitesville, Marshall County, Alabama. He married Rebecca Owen Watts about 1815 in Haywood County, North Carolina, daughter of Jacob Watts and Elizabeth Durett. She was born about 1794 in North Carolina, and died 1871 in Alabama. Both Eli and Rebecca are buried in Whitesville, Marshall County, Alabama.

8. Moses Watson [6010] was born about 1818 in North Carolina, and died before 1880. He married Frances Brothers on 9 February 1837 in St. Clair County, Alabama, daughter of Ezekiel Brothers and Mary Jones. She was born about 1808 in Alabama, and died Aft. 1880.
