Children of Martha Acord and James Dickerson

1. CLAUDE DICKERSON [12234] was born 1894, and died 19 November 1915 in Oark, Johnson County, Arkansas. He married SARAH HELEN PATTERSON in 1912, daughter of CHARLES PATTERSON and POLLY WHORTON. She was born 3 February 1897 in Johnson County, Arkansas, and died 19 November 1915 in Oark, Johnson County, Arkansas. In 1915, after three years of marriage, Claude and Sarah got into some kind of disagreement. Claude left and went to Oklahoma but returned several weeks later. On 19 November 1915 he was seen in Oark with a gun, looking for Sarah. When he found her he shot and killed her then turned the gun on himself, dying two hours later. Their only child, Avis, was adopted by her maternal grandparents, Dr. Charles H. Patterson and Polly Ann Whorton who relocated to Oklahoma and broke all ties with the Dickerson family.
