Children of Thomas Gilliam and Sally Williamson
1. ANTHONY GILLIAM
[15364] was born about 1783 and died in September 1851
in Williamson County, Tennessee. He married Sarah [last name unknown]. She was
born about 1786 and died before 1850. His will was written 3 August 1850 and recorded
in October 1851. In it he states that he desires that
his "servants, Ned, Henry, Nancy, Dica,
Araminta, Charlotte, Ann, Susan, Little Nancy, and Amanda...have one good suit
of plain substantial clothing each, in addition to what they may chance after my
decease...they shall receive their freedom and be sent to a free state...each of
them shall have twenty-five dollars in cash...my old servant woman, Zilla, to be
free and maintained out of his estate. The residue of the estate was to be sold
and 'placed at interest' to be used to fund the education and maintenance of
poor children...of good moral and good natural intellectual faculties and
endowments and that promise to make useful citizens and distinguished members in
society." Anthony's siblings successfully sued to break this will. Anthony
is buried in Williamson County, Tennessee.
