Children of John Patrick Allen and Alonia Williams

5. Virgie Perry Allen [15034] was born 29 March 1889 in Long Creek, Grant County, Oregon, and died 2 February 1972 in John Day, Grant County, Oregon. He married Laura Pearl King. She was born 22 October 1898, and died December 1985. Virgie is buried in Long Creek Cemetery, Long Creek, Grant County, Oregon. Beginning in 1918, he drove the Canyon City Stage, making the journey from Long Creek by horse-drawn buggy in the summer and by sleigh in the winter. In the 1930's, he was employed in the building of the U. S. Highway 395 north of Long Creek. Later he worked on a dredge in the Bates area and with the fire patrol under the State Forestry Dept. He retired in 1944.
