4. NANCY ANN YOUNG [11190] was born 28 September 1843 in Perry County, Tennessee, and died 23 December 1923. She married (1) JOSEPH JAMES "JJ" SHANNON 11 October 1857. He was born 26 March 1830 in Humphreys County, Tennessee, and died 8 March 1895. JJ served as a 2nd Lt. in Company F of the 55th TN Infantry, CSA during the Civil War. He was captured twice. The first at Fort Donelson. He was moved to Vicksburg where he was exchanged in a prisoner swap. He was next captured while on leave at home in Perry County. He was sent to Fort Delaware where he remained for the duration of the war. After JJ's death Nancy married (2) HENRY M. LEDBETTER September 1897 in Tennessee. Nancy had a total of 13 children. Nancy and Joseph are buried in Britts Chapel Cemetery, Perry County, Tennessee.

1. Mattie Shannon. She married ? Duncan; died Unknown.
2. Robert Thomas Shannon, born 1860; died 1931. Robert Shannon is listed in the 1930 Who's Who in America. He graduated Vanderbilt and Cumberland School of Law. Robert was a research attorney and compiled the first annotated code of the laws of Tennessee in the early 1890's; these are known in the state as the Shannon's Code. He revised and published the Tennessee code until his death in 1931.
