Edward Joseph 'Ed' Kraus [559]
was born 23 October 1859 in Huntington or Cambria County, Pennsylvania. In
the mid-1860's he moved with his parents to Logansport, Cass County, Indiana.
The family moved again in 1879 to Johnson County, Arkansas. There he married
Gwennie S. Evans on 9 July 1885 in Johnson County, Arkansas.
She was born 5 July 1861 near Pontypridd, South Wales, the daughter of Williams T. and Martha Evans. Edward built and operated a brick factory in the Spadra
Township of Johnson County, Arkansas. It is said that Gwennie administered many acts of
charity and that far and wide about town she visited the sick
and needy--never empty handed. She had a pet parrot that sat on here shoulder. Edward died 13 April 1906 in
Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas and Gwennie followed three years later on
9 March 1909. They are both buried in the Kraus plot in Oakland Cemetery in
Clarksville, Arkansas and have very large grave markers erected by the Woodmen
of the World. Edward's marker bears the inscription "God's hand touched
him and he slept, A loving husband a father dear, A faithful friend, He's buried
here."

Abraham Eldsworth 'Ed' Kraus [1282]
was born 26 January 1862 in Pennsylvania, and died 16 October 1920 at his home
in Clarksville in Johnson
County, Arkansas. He married Cora M. Flemming on 19 October 1885. She was
born 1 January 1869 in Arkansas and died 17 August 1951 in Johnson
County, Arkansas. When she married Abraham she was an orphan living with
her uncle, C. White. She died 17 July 1941. Abraham owned a construction
business in Clarksville. They are both buried in Oakland Cemetery,
Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas.

watermelon that was about twice as much as we could get away with, and the

was born 5 July 1867 in Indiana, and died 7 July 1900. He married
Daisey Ellen Gilbert on 1 March 1891 in Johnson County, Arkansas, daughter
of Samuel Gilbert and Rebecca McLaughlin. She was born 1873 near Ozone,
Johnson County, Arkansas. After John's death Daisey remarried to Dudley
William 'Bill' Mackey. He was born about 1876 in Texas. They moved to
Texas and had a son named Lewis Mackey born about 1910. Dudley worked on
the railroad and later became a machinist for a gas company.

Pope County, Arkansas. She married John Robert Farmer, on 16 January 1890
in Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas. He was the son of John Calhoun
Farmer and Maneisa Jackson. He was born 12 September 1864 in Clarksville,
Johnson County, Arkansas. In 1921 he received payment for road work in Pope
County. John worked as a laborer at a nursery in Pope County, Arkansas in 1930.
That same year his son-in-law, Rutherford Hays and daughter-in-law Ruth (wife of
Burl) lived with them. Their daughter Eva still lived at home and worked as a
telephone operator. In 1938 he listened to outdoor political speeches in Russellville and
succumbed to sun stroke on 15 August 1938 in Russellville, Pope County, Arkansas. Sarah
and John are both buried in
Russellville, Pope County, Arkansas.
