WAP Edition now Available. Do you have a web-enabled phone or PDA? Portions of our research database are now available on these devices by using the built-in microbrowser to go to larkcom.us/ancestry. I developed the WAP Edition so that I would have ready access to research data from cemeteries, libraries or any place where I may not have access to a computer. It has only been tested with the Motorola MPx200 phone running Microsoft SmartPhone 2002. If you have a different phone your feedback will help with continued development. Also, I am very interested in how others might use this new technology. If you find this feature useful please drop me an email.

Martha Jane Rafferty, wife of Rubin Everett has been found! Her parents were Christopher and Mira Rafferty, both born in Tennessee. They may be found in the 1850 Newton County, Arkansas and the 1860 Howell County, Missouri censuses. Christopher and Mira died between 1860 and 1870  and Martha can be found living with her oldest brother Thomas F. Rafferty in the 1870 Boone County census. Between 1870 and 1880 she married Nathelgan Goforth and then Rubin Everett. She then shows up in the 1900 Faulkner County, Arkansas living with husband Rubin.

Martha Jane Rafferty: Was she 15/16 Cherokee Indian as family lore states? We have found no evidence thus far. Her parents were born in Tennessee and she was born in Arkansas. Her nephew, Sisroe "Roe" Rafferty, son of Thomas F. Rafferty, did marry Caldonia Jones who appears in the Dawes Final Roll 1819-1914 as Caldonia Rafferty 1/16 Cherokee. Her children as listed as being 1/32 Cherokee. This would seem to indicate that she had Cherokee blood and, as far as she knew, her husband was 100% white. Another possible Indian connection is Albert P. and Rachel M. and their daughter Mary E. Goforth who also appears in the Dawes Final Roll. If you have any information about Indian blood in this family, please send email.
