202nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, USAThe regiment was organized at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg to serve one year, on 3
September 1864 under Colonel Charles Albright. Company B was made up entirely of
Juniata County Men. On the 9th or 10th they left Harrisburg by railroad to Camp
Couch in Chambersburg Pennsylvania and on the 30th started for Alexandria
Virginia, arriving on 3 October. On 4 October they marched to Thoroughfare Gap,
then on 6 October to White Plains and were entrenched. On October 7 they marched
to Salem and skirmished with Mosely. They guarded the Manassas Gap Railroad
which was used to transport supplies for the Army of the Shenandoah. When a
train was thrown off the track and several soldiers were wounded, the troops
burned all the houses within a mile. Afterwards the rebel people safeguarded all
trains. On October 28th them left for White Planes and arrived at Haymarket on
the 29th.On the 31st of October they reported 92 present for duty, 1 on extra
duty, 2 present but sick, 3 absent sick and 1 under arrest for a total of 99. In
December they moved to Fairfax and guarded the Orange & Alexandria Railroad.
They saw no fighting except for occasional skirmishing with guerrillas. In May
1865 the regiment moved to Pennsylvania and were posted at Tamaqua and other
sections in the anthracite region. They mustered out at Harrisburg 3 August
1865. Company B
