7th Arkansas Calvary Regiment, CSA

Organized on 25 July 1863, by augmenting John F. Hill's Cavalry Battalion to regimental strength. Assigned to Cabell's Cavalry Brigade. Operated mostly in the Indian Territory from July to November, 1863; and was engaged at the Devil's Backbone battle on September 1, 1863. Brigade was subsequently attached to Marmaduke's Cavalry Division from November 1863 to January 1864; and participated in the Confederate harassment of the Camden Expedition, fighting at the battles of  Poison Spring and Marks' Mill in April, 1864, Pine Bluff and Dardenelle. Participated in Price's Missouri Expedition in September and October, 1864, and at the battle of Marais des Cygnes on October 25, 1864. Surrendered with General Kirby Smith on May 26, 1865.

Company G

Abner Edgmon (1842-1863) Private. Son of Braxton Edgmon and Mary Ann Casey. Enlisted in the Company B of the 4th Arkansas Infantry Regiment (State Troops) in Huntsville, Arkansas on 22 May 1861. This unit disbanded on 20 August 1861 and he enlisted in Company A, 3rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment. He served there for nine months then on 9 Aug 1862 and mustered into Company E of Adam's Arkansas Infantry Regiment. He was captured at the Battle of Prairie Grove and held in St. Louis, Missouri. He was paroled on 14 January 1863 and enlisted in the 7th Arkansas Calvary Regiment. He was killed in action on 26 May 1873.

Samuel Edgmon (1839-1863) Private. Son of Braxton Edgmon and Mary Ann Casey. Killed in action on 6 Feb 1863.

Company F

Jesse Columbus Edgmon (1847-1864) Private. Son of Braxton Edgmon and Mary Ann Casey. Enlisted in Clark's Missouri Volunteers, after Clark's capture the regiment was reorganized into the 10th Arkansas Cavalry Regiment and finally the 7th Arkansas Cavalry Regiment. He was capture about 4 November 1863 and died in the federal prison at St. Louis, Missouri on 12 Dec 1864.

Andrew Jackson Horner (1843-1864) Private. Son of Spencer Horner and Permelia Turner. Enlisted 6 Jul 1863 in Clarksville, Arkansas. reported deserted from on 20 July 1863 after serving only three weeks. Enlisted in 2nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment, USA on 19 March 1864 at Clarksville, Arkansas at the age of 21.

John Ellsberry Edgmon (1837-??) Private. Son of Braxton Edgmon and Mary Ann Casey, husband of Sarah Jane Casey. Transferred from Company A of the 3rd Arkansas Infantry.

Company L

Toliver Goldstone Blackard (1819-1898) Sergeant. Son of William Blackard and Sarah Farmer, husband of Mary Penn. Buried in Oakland Cemetery, Johnson County, Arkansas.

Company M

James Monroe Kelly, Private. Husband of Rachel Lenora Stewart. Enlisted 15 September 1863 in Johnson County. Buried in Annie's Chapel Cemetery, Johnson County, Arkansas.
