Guardianship of Catherine Acord by John Acord 
Court of Roane County, Tennessee - 11 March 1837

State of Tennessee

Know all men by these presents that we John Acord and [blank] are held firmly bound unto Henry Sextent[?] chairman of the county court of Roane County and my successors in office in the sum of six hundred dollars to which payment will & truly to be made. We bind ausitny[?] on his execution and firmly by these presents received with inventory dated the 11th day of March 1857.

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above named John Akerd is considered Guardian to Katherine Akerd minor orphan. Now if the said John Akerd shall faithfully execute his guardianship by securing and improving all the estate of the said Katherine Akerd that shall come into his possession for the benefit of said Katherine Akerd during the insanity of said Katherine or until some other be appointed unless[?] sworn thereinto[?] 2 years and then under a plain account of said Guardianship an oath before the Justice of said Court and deliver up a possess[?] said Katherine if she should become of sound mind or such person as may be appointed to receive the sum of all such estate or estates as she ought to be possessed[?] of or to such other person as shall lawfully improved[?] and authorized to secure the same and the property therefore. Then this obligation to be void other ursr[?] ocmand[?] in full force[?] dated above.
