Jordan Cemetery (AKA: Jordan Family Cemetery)Coosa County, Alabama
Surnames: Elmore • Jordan • Jourdan • Maxwell • Mitchell • Spivey Coordinates: Latitude: 32.928611° Longitude: -86.043056° Directions: Located near Kellyton, off Coosa County Rd 65 on the Five Star Plantation near Historical Ann Jordan Lodge; established circa 1836. The cemetery is behind the lodge in the woods on a hill. Sources: Surveyed by Ronald D. Bridges with his wife Eunice on 4 Jun 2001. Notes: The cemetery has about a one-foot thick square cement wall around it - about 54 feet by 36 feet. The wall is approximately four feet high, and there is no gate to the cemetery. It has cement steps on one side of the wall in which to climb and adjacent steps to step down into the cemetery. There are several unmarked graves, three graves with a rock at the head and a rock at the foot, and a grave with many rocks piled about a foot and a half high. All the marked graves have fairly new headstones. Some of the foot markers with initials are leaning against the inside wall. Orrie Pearl Maxwell's old headstone is broken in half and is stacked upon the grave which has many rocks piled about a foot and a half high. It appears someone has replaced the old headstones, while leaving some remnants of the old headstones and foot markers. There are 5 burials listed here. This is believed to be a complete inventory of this cemetery. In the More Info column click |
