Green Hill
(1741-1825) son of Green Hill and Grace Bennett served as a Major and chaplain
during the Revolutionary War. In 1783 he was elected to the Council of State,
North Carolina. In August 1774 he was elected a member of the Provincial
Congress, in Newbern, North Carolina.
Robert Hill (1752-1834)
son of William Hill and Susanna Smithers served as Captain in the North Carolina Line
during the Revolutionary War. He applied for a pension 14 sep 1832 while living in
Stokes County, North Carolina.
Joel Hill (1763-1843)
son of William Hill and Susanna Smithers served under his brother, Robert Hill, in the
North Carolina Line during the Revolutionary War. Applied for a pension 10 Dec 1832
while living in Limestone County, Alabama.
Joshua Hill (1763-??) served under his brother, Robert Hill in the
North Carolina Line during the Revolutionary War. Applied for a pension 23
Mar 1842 while living in the Abbeville District of South Carolina.
Mark Hill (1790-1878) son of William Hill
and Elizabeth Cope served in the Tennessee Militia in the War
of 1812 and was at the "Battle of New Orleans" and Horse-Shoe Bend. Mark was an uneducated man but very thrifty and healthy. At the age of 85 he would walk 25 miles over the mountain to
Clarksville, Arkansas, the county seat, to get his mail and stop to visit his sons Micijah, who was a boot and shoe maker in
Clarksville and John who was a merchant in Clarksville. Mark had a
reputation of being an excellent marksman and hunter. He had a great sense of humor and was a kindly man. The log house that Mark first built
between 1836-40 was still occupied in 1976.
Lewis Russell (1806-1869) son of Lewis R. Russell and Esther Horner
(daughter of William Horner and Elizabeth Allred) served the Confederacy during
the Civil War in Company I of the Thirteenth Arkansas Infantry Regiment.
Kimbrell Claude Hill (1818-1901) Enlisted in Company D, 4th Arkansas
Calvary, CSA on May 31, 1862 for a term of three years. His grave marker is
inscribed "Kimbrell Hill Born Jan 6 1818 Died March 3 1901 Married Amanda Jones March 11 1840 Served in Gordon's Brig. 2 Ark Garrette Co. D in war of 1861.
'C.H. Davis of Co, K. My horse was killed and fell on me, Kimbrell Hill taken him off in Price Rade at New Toney In. in 1864' "
John Fry Hill (1821-1822) son of Mark Hill and Rachel Fry is a veteran of
the Mexican War. He also served the Confederacy during the Civil War in Company
E of the 16th Arkansas Infantry. He enlisted as a Captain on 29 October 1861 and
was promoted to the rank of Colonel on 4 December 1861. In 1879 John was elected
the representative from Johnson County to the Arkansas State Senate.
Thomas Jefferson Dickerson
(1838-1922) son of Nathaniel Eli Dickerson and Sarah Anna Byrd, husband of
Martha Jane Hill (daughter of Kimbrell Claude Hill and Amanda Jones) served the
Confederacy during the Civil War.
John Hill (1843-??) son
of Sion Hill and Sarah Needham serve the Confederacy during the Civil War in
Company C of the 1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles.
William C. Hill (1845-1861)
son of Kimbrell Claude Hill and Amanda Jones
enlisted in Company D, Carroll's Regiment of the Arkansas Calvary, along with his father Kimbrell Claude Hill, in 1861 at the age of 19. He had a fine horse that he
intended to take with him. Before he reported for duty he was killed by
bushwhackers at his home
in front of his sisters Angeline Hill and Martha J. Hill; the murderers stole
the horse.
Jasper Hill (1844-1900)
son of Joseph Hill and Emeline Jones enlisted in Company D, 4th Arkansas Calvary on
December 1, 1863 in Clarksville, Arkansas.
William Columbus Hill
(1889-1977) son of Lafayette Hill and Sarah C. Stewart is a veteran of
World War I.
Enos Preston Hill
(1890-1948) son of Christopher Columbus Hill and Laura Caroline Lane, was
a veteran of World War I.
Clem Jefferson Hill
(1894-??) son of Ambrose Warren Hill and Louvinia Caroline Stewart was a veteran if World War I.
Charles Bryant
Dickerson (1914-1943) son of Thomas Dickerson (son of Thomas Jefferson
Dickerson and Martha Jane Hill) and Martha Frances Patterson, served
during World War II as a Technical Sergeant in the Forty-Fifth Division,
U.S. Army. He was killed in Action in Sicily.
T. Leroy Hill
(1921-??) son of Enos Preston Hill and Fruzie McGuire, was a veteran of
World War II.
